MetLife Stadium Will Host the Final on July 19
The 82,500-seat venue in East Rutherford, New Jersey, takes centre stage for what FIFA expects to be the most-watched single sporting event in history.
T he 23rd FIFA World Cup will end on Sunday, July 19, at three p.m. Eastern, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Eight matches will be played there in total, including a Round of 32 fixture, a Round of 16 game, and a semi-final on July 14.
MetLife’s 82,500 seats make it the largest venue at the tournament, edging AT&T Stadium in Dallas. The stadium has hosted Copa America finals, Champions League pre-season showcases, and a 2024 Copa America final between Argentina and Colombia that ended with Lionel Messi limping off in tears. None of those occasions will compare in scale to what FIFA expects on July 19.
The build-up will begin a week earlier. Fan zones across the New York metro area, broadcast compounds in five different cities, and a tournament that – by the time it reaches MetLife – will already have produced 103 matches, 32 knockout games, and a champion-in-waiting.
