Mohamed Salah will captain Egypt at their first World Cup since 2018 after being named in Hossam Hassan's final 26-man squad, with Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush also included. Salah arrives two goals short of Hassan's national scoring record. Egypt open Group G against Belgium in Seattle on June 15.
Davies Headlines "Best Ever" Canada Squad as Marsch Names His World Cup 26
Jesse Marsch has named Alphonso Davies in what he called the best 26-man squad Canada has "ever assembled" for a World Cup, despite the Bayern Munich defender still recovering from a hamstring injury. Juventus forward Jonathan David also makes the cut. The co-hosts open Group B against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto on June 12.
Iran Open World Cup Preparation With Comeback Win Over Gambia
Iran began their World Cup preparations with a 3-1 friendly win over Gambia in Antalya on Friday, scoring three times in 20 second-half minutes after trailing at the break. Olympiacos forward Mehdi Taremi was among the scorers. Team Melli, based in Mexico and still awaiting United States visas, open Group G against New Zealand in Los Angeles.
